DATA-TEEF TREETS
We have infused our proprietary SMMRT Science™ into premium freeze-dried protein to create a delicious and nutritious way to target deep below the gum-line to support your pet's oral health.
As one of the few dental-focused brands in the industry, TEEF’s microbiologists pride themselves on being innovators in the space. One of the many difficulties of at-home dental care is that it is inconvenient for the pet parent and unappealing for the pet. TEEF TREETS offer an all-in-one, guilt-free solution to daily dental hygiene by infusing our award-winning formulations (Protektin42™ for dogs and Protektin30™ for cats) into premium, protein-packed treats. Embedding our formulations into freeze-dried salmon or duck provides a nutritious and delicious way to care for your pet’s teeth daily.
STUDY DATA
Briefly, we gave TEEF treats with Protektin42™ and Protektin30™ to dogs and cats, respectively for 3 consecutive days to assess for a change in plaque burden. We took baseline oral swab samples (3 swabs per timepoint) and oral swab samples at day 3 (3 swabs per timepoint) to measure biolfilm-producing plaque. Data show that 3 TEEF treats, taken 1 per day for 3 consecutive days, reduced plaque burdens at the tooth-gingival interface compared to baseline. Below are exemplary ex vivo data from volunteers.
Exemplary result showing a total average reduction in plaque-generated biofilm from a canine eating 3 Protektin42™-containing TEEF TREETS (or pices of) per day for 3 days.
Exemplary result showing a total average reduction in plaque-generated biofilm (plaque) from a feline eating 3 Protektin30™-containing TEEF TREETS per day for 3 days.
Before and After: Results show a decrease in plaque and tartar and improved gingival health on a canine after 60 days of Protektin42™ powder sprinkled over dry food once daily.
Dogs and cats were given 3 TEEF TREETS (or treat pieces)/day for 3 consecutive days and assessed their effect on viable microbial levels at the tooth-gingival interface. Briefly, dogs and cats were given 3 treats (or treat pieces) per day for 3 consecutive days. Oral swab sampling was performed at baseline, day 1 and day 3 to capture the microbial population at the tooth-gingival interface (3 swabs per timepoint). Swabs were immersed in 1mL sterile saline and then cultured in media and total CFU/mL were measured by spectrophotometer. Below are exemplary data from volunteers.
Above: Exemplary box and whiskers plot showing a total average reduction in bacteria recovered from a canine eating 1 TEEF TREET per day with Protektin42™ for 3 days.
What are you seeing? The boxes represent the range of readouts from subjects on each day. The lines represent the median bacteria levels. The circle represents the average. On day 1, there was a decrease in overall bacteria (mostly anaerobic) compared to baseline. On day 3, the green box shows an increase in aerobic (beneficial) bacteria, which represents a wider range of bacterial strain diversity.
Conclusion: After only 3 days of taking TEEF TREETS, dogs had decreased levels of harmful bacteria and their own beneficial microbes started to grow again This results in a naturally-improved oral microbiome and helps promote long-term dental health.
