Most pets on a raw diet don’t drink much water. We recommend splitting any added water on their food 50/50 with TEEF. If you can also add it to their water for when they DO take a quick drink, that will help too. Otherwise, there are plenty of other ways to dose your pet. Visit our USES page for some helpful ideas.

Vitamin B6 plays a crucial role in promoting your pet's overall well-being by supporting the health of their skin, coat, cognitive function, as well as heart and digestive health.

When your pet lacks sufficient B6 in their diet, introducing additional levels of the vitamin may initially lead to loose stools or even diarrhea. This is a natural response as the body strives to readjust and establish healthy levels in your pet's gut microbiome.

If symptoms persist for more than 2-3 days, underlying health issues such as IBD, parasites like worms or Giardia, or an imbalanced intestinal flora could be contributing factors.

Here’s a trick you can do to maximize your supply:

Many people have a multiple pet home with multiple water dishes. We recommend making a batch/pitcher (1/2 gallon = 1 scoop) with TEEF in it and keep it in the refrigerator to use for topping off water dishes throughout the day. Try not to keep the pitcher for more than 3 days though, as there aren’t any preservatives in our formulations. And fresh, filtered water is always ideal in a nice clean bowl.

Pro Tip: Add the scoop first before adding water to fully dissolve the powder.

Yes, TEEF is safe for young pets and we recommend getting them started within the first 5 months of life. However, due to their somewhat sensitive young GI tracts, we recommend Protektin42K (sodium-free) to be easy on their tummies. 

We discovered our tartar-removal effect in our studies, which means that when we block gum disease-associated bacteria, like Porphyromonas gingivalis and Streptococcus, from eating sugars and carbs, they start to mine the plaque and tartar that exists on their teeth for those preferred nutrients. Literally making the bacteria function like a microbial toothbrush!

We have case studies that show a significant reduction in existing tartar. Though, we don’t specifically focus on tartar because it is not directly related to gum disease. It is only correlated due to it being an effect of oral dysbiosis – a microbial imbalance. We are focused on stopping dysbiosis, the root cause of dental disease - even below the gumline.

The amount of sodium bicarbonate in a dose of Protektin42 (dog formula) is <3mg, which is an extremely tiny amount of a pet's daily intake, so it is very unlikely to negatively impact your pet.

In determining total sodium per day for your pet (dog-specific): drinking tap water contributes ~10% of daily sodium intake. Hill’s Ideal Balance dog food (chicken) has 66 mg/100kCal of sodium. Adding up total dietary sodium intake means that the amount of additional sodium added by Protektin42 turns out to be ~2-3% additional sodium to the dog’s diet per day.
