A Novel Means of Modulating the Oral Microbiome to Promote Oral Health
TEEF inventor, Emily Stein, Ph.D., was published in the December 2024 issue of Oral Health Magazine. The article (page 46) recounts her personal experience where her grandmother suffered a stroke after a tooth extraction,likely due to bacteremia from oral microbes entering her bloodstream. Motivated to address this issue, the author, a microbiologist, developed a solution. Through in vitro and ex vivo experiments, she identified a combination of natural, safe ingredients capable of selectively modulating the oral microbiome.
